Pastor Steve was born in Vancouver. After attending U.B.C., he completed a B.A. at Concordia College (Portland OR) and an M.Div. at Concordia Seminary (St. Louis MO). He and his wife Brenda have two adult sons, both of whom are married.
His first call was to serve a dual parish in northern Alberta. While serving his next call, in Edmonton, he was encouraged to return to school to become a seminary professor. After earning his Ph.D. at Wycliffe College (Toronto ON), he served on the faculty for 17 years at Concordia Lutheran Seminary (Edmonton AB), enjoyed 6 seasons of archaeological work Israel, and taught overseas a number of times in Asia and Europe.
Fulfilling a longtime hope, Pastor Steve was called to return to parish ministry in 2019. He served as Associate Pastor at Grace Lutheran Church, Edmonton, until beginning service here at Our Saviour in September 2021. His hobbies include running, reading, travelling, and messing about with sports cars.
